Cheyanne Mckay was born and raised in North Western, Ontario but also comes from a Honduran heritage that she carries proudly. Cheyanne took the Native Child and Family Worker Program at Confederation College and has been working with First Nation’s youth ever since.      She started out in Addictions Counselling, then moving on to Secondary School Services specifically for First Nation’s Youth.

Through her work with Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School she has had the opportunity to travel and provide services to many remote First Nations reserves.

Cheyanne has been a vital part of creating and implementing programming geared to making the urban schooling experience safe, comfortable and effective for students coming off reserve. She has worked with the Inquest team to bring those recommendations to reality and has a strong passion for creating a better tomorrow.

Cheyanne’s passion for helping First Nation’s communities seeps deep into her personal life as well, being a foster parent, boarding home parent and mothering her 3 year daughter and 17 year old adoptive sister. Cheyanne takes gratification with the work she does in her home and in the community and is looking forward to being a new team member of Wiidosem.
